An increasing number of customers are bringing animals with them when they visit farm markets, pick your own farms, or agritainment activities. Animals can pose a food safety risk to produce, introduce disease to farm animals, frighten or upset farm animals, employees and other market customers and farm visitors. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) governs what you are legally allowed to do in regards to customers with service animals visiting your market or on your farm. IFVGA Lifetime Achievement Award Winners

2021

Ron & Becky Deardorff

The 2021 IFVGA Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Recipient was Ron and Becky Deardorff. Deardorff Sweetcorn, located near Adel, has been in business for over 35 years. Ron’s 2 sons are now taking over the business. 

“Sweetcorn is a fun project and process. People look forward to the fresh, homegrown, Iowa sweetcorn in the summer. Over the years people have come to recognize our name and brand and know we have quality sweetcorn”, Ron Deardorff.

Congratulations to Ron and the late Becky Deardorff in honor of their many years of dedicated service and commitment to our organization and industry!

The Iowa Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association presented two IFVGA Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Iowa Specialty Producers Awards Banquet. These individuals have dedicated many years of service and commitment to our organization and industry. Congratulations to Dean & Judy Henry (Berry Patch Farms) and Helen & the late Dave Huitink (Pumpkinland).
