"Frost and freeze damage affect countless fruit and vegetable growers leading to yield losses and occasionally the loss of the entire crop. Learning how to manage and mitigate losses due to frost is crucial in continuing to grow vegetables, especially in the Midwest, and to maximize both yields and profits for both large and small scale farms." Local growers group to meet on January 6

Posted on December 4, 2019 by Iowa Fruit and Vegetable Growers AssociationDecember 4, 2019

The Growing Food and Profit group will hold their first meeting of the year on January 6th at the Raccoon Valley Bank Community Room, 590 Sugar Grove Avenue in Dallas Center. The evening will begin with a potluck meal at 6:30 pm. Please bring a potluck dish to share and your own table service. Coffee and water will be provided.

This meeting will be a time to connect and re-connect with other food growers and those interested in consuming locally grown foods. The evening will be a chance to swap and share information on everything from varieties and techniques, locating tools or equipment, to sharing resources, and beyond. We will also discuss ideas for future programs.

Whether you are a food grower, someone interested in growing food, or an “eater” of locally grown foods, you are welcome to attend.

The GFP group is sponsored by ISU Extension in Dallas County. For more information, please contact Linda Nelson at 515-491-3984 or Lsnelson1@hotmail.com.
