The Iowa Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association was established in 1984 to promote the interests of fruit and vegetable growers of the state through meetings, access to information, research, networking and mentoring opportunities.
This association is a 501(C) 5 nonprofit corporation that merged from two existing grower associations. The Iowa Fruit Growers Association was created in 1959. Its bylaws indicated the association would terminate in 1984 or 25 years after incorporation. The Iowa Vegetable Growers Association incorporated in 1962. The vegetable growers held conferences with the Muscatine Island Truck Growers, which formed in 1935.
Today, the Iowa Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association continues to thrive and operates with a nine-member board. IFVGA remains an affiliate of its grandparent organization, the Iowa State Horticultural Society.
